The Historic Dockyard Chatham runs its heritage railway on demonstration operating days, with diesel locomotive 'Overlord' running along the remaining mile of track past the site's three historic ships. Visitors can talk to volunteer operators, look inside the locomotive shed, and watch restoration and maintenance work on the heritage fleet. The railway is demonstration only and cannot carry passengers, and operating times are not guaranteed.
