Home Education Day - Seasonal Celebrations

A hands-on home education day at Butser Ancient Farm exploring how ancestors celebrated midwinter through Prehistoric Solstice, Roman Saturnalia and Saxon Yule activities.

This one-day home education workshop runs from 10am to 3pm and explores seasonal celebrations of the past through four 30-minute hands-on activities covering Prehistoric Solstice, Roman Saturnalia and Saxon Yule, plus a tour of the site. Led by a member of the education team, the day includes time to explore the farm's ancient buildings from the Stone Age through to the Viking period. It is part of a seven-session yearly programme with a home education passport stamp scheme, aimed at ages 7-13 but open to children of all ages, with adults welcome to join in.
