The Folklore of Plants
About
A fireside workshop of old plant folklore stories in a recreated Saxon hall, ending with making scented Saxon amulet beads to take home.
Sally Murdoch leads a two-and-a-half-hour session telling old stories about familiar flowers, from the snowdrop's winter strength to the boy in yellow and green with the lovely singing voice, in the setting of a recreated Saxon hall. Participants then make scented Saxon amulet beads from flowers, spices, flower waters, oils and tree resins to take away. The workshop runs twice on the day, 10am-12:30pm and 1:15pm-3:45pm, and the ticket includes entrance to the farm for the rest of the day. It is intended for adults and suitable for ages 16+, with an optional booklet of stories and a home bead-making kit available to purchase.
