Roman Reenactment Weekend

Living history weekend with the Butser IX Legion bringing Roman Britain to life around the villa with combat, cooking, crafts and games.

A contingent from the Butser IX Roman Legion takes up residence around the Roman Villa at Butser Ancient Farm for a weekend of living history. Visitors can watch combat reenactments and demonstrations of daily Roman life, from cooking to board games, and try hands-on ancient skills such as spinning or carving chalk. Activities are included with normal site admission and much of the programme is delivered by volunteers, so it may vary on the day.
