About

Three adult landscape-painting workshops at Woods Mill with artist and designer Danny McBride.

Three Sussex Wildlife Trust landscape-art workshops in Danny McBride’s published series take place at Woods Mill on 22 October, 5 November and 19 November 2026, each 10:00–15:00. On 22 October, explore forest structure, bark textures and colours, reflections and atmosphere using charcoal and paint. On 5 November, study bare silhouettes, textured reeds and winter skies, with attention to clean greys, temperature contrasts and reflective surfaces. On 19 November, explore warm oranges and golds against cool blue and purple shadows, and reflections in frost, wet paths and saturated ground. Each session is offered as a stand-alone workshop or as part of the series. Danny McBride is an artist and designer who draws inspiration from the Sussex countryside. Participants should be at least 18. Bring paints and working surfaces; the focus is acrylic, though watercolours are welcome. Drawing board, easel, cartridge paper, charcoal and outdoor painting equipment are provided; tea, coffee and biscuits are available. An optional A3+ materials pack is £30.52 and is not the admission price. Concession tickets are available to people finding standard prices out of reach, including seniors, students and people currently unemployed, with no proof required. Member discounts apply to most courses but the rate for each date is not specified. The classroom and toilet are fully accessible; free parking and public toilets are available. The reserve includes ponds, a lake, ancient woodland, streams, meadows and hedgerows. A packed lunch, drinks, suitable outdoor clothing and footwear are recommended; the outdoor observation portion is weather permitting.
