About
This learning session provides an introduction to the practical and scientific use of traditional lime for building purposes in Scotland.
The morning session covers the basic principles of processing raw limestone or shells into mortar and plaster, alongside current best practices for conservation and repair. The afternoon focuses on identifying and characterizing lime finishes, and interpreting underlying masonry style as evidence of former finishes. Attendees can also participate in a networking lunch to continue discussions.
