Identifying Broad-leaved Trees in Winter
About
A Kent Wildlife Trust study day teaching how to identify native broad-leaved trees and shrubs in winter using twigs, buds and bark.
This one-day study day, led by botanist and ecologist Ros Bennett, teaches identification of native broad-leaved trees and shrubs in winter using twigs, buds and bark. The morning is spent in the classroom learning the basic features of winter twigs and practising with simplified keys on a variety of specimens; the rest of the day is spent in the nature park among a wide range of native deciduous trees. Suitable for beginners and anyone not confident at winter tree identification, with keys from Bennett's book 'Tree-spotting' provided as hand-outs.
