Knitting: Beyond the Basics

This five-week course with tutor Rosina Godwin introduces sashiko, a traditional Japanese hand-quilting technique of running stitches used to mend and strengthen worn garments. Sessions cover marking out patterns, stitching geometric designs, and the history of sashiko and Japanese repair, with demonstrations and a presentation. Learners can repair a garment, reinforce areas such as knees and elbows, or create a decorative piece, and the course is suitable for all abilities with an interest in textiles.
