Tapestry Techniques Workshop
About
A two-day tapestry weaving workshop with textile artist Jo McDonald at the Scottish Craft School, teaching traditional Gobelin-style techniques on a frame loom.
Textile artist Jo McDonald leads a two-day, hands-on course in woven tapestry techniques in the traditional Gobelin style, running 10am–4pm on Friday and Saturday. Working on a small frame loom, participants learn to warp the loom, control weft tension, weave shapes, angles, curves and stripes, blend colours and finish their work, experimenting with cottons, wools, linens and reclaimed yarns. Suitable for complete beginners and improvers, the course ends with each participant creating a woven sample and the confidence to continue weaving independently. All tools and materials are included; tea and coffee are provided but participants bring their own lunch.
