Political Ideologies: Totalitarianism, Nationalism, Feminism, Environmentalism
About
A three-week adult education course examining political ideologies including anarchism, fascism, nationalism, feminism and environmentalism through lectures and discussion.
This three-week course at the Mary Ward Centre's Stratford campus introduces the political ideologies that shape societies worldwide, covering anarchism, fascism, nationalism, feminism and environmentalism. Tutor Christian Schnee combines short presentations with class discussions, exploring how ideologies influence perception, behaviour and political choices. Students consider topics such as the differing currents of feminism, the distinction between ethnic and civic nationalism, and how to tell deep and shallow environmentalism apart. Brief readings, videos and podcasts are set between sessions, and participants are encouraged to take an increasingly active role as the course progresses.
